Nest vs Honeywell

Nest faces off against Honeywell,  who wins.

If you are looking to update your controls this autumn then you really need to be buying the new Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation. Why you may ask? I have have a Honeywell at present and it has been pretty reliable over the years.

Yes Honeywell controls have been a good stalwart when it comes to controls but really they have become a little bit dated and the world has moved on.

The Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation is a room stat and programmer in one unit. Whereas in a lot of cases existing controls will be a room stat and separate programmer for setting the heating and hot water to come on and off in either a 24hr, 5 day/2day or 7 day operation.

The Nest units have been created using the state of the art technology and design to fix a problem that long standing manufacturers like honeywell, danfoss and drayton have just never tackled.

Maybe because consumers have settled for the products that where offered or there has not been enough foresight and no-one ever except for Nest realised that with advanced technology and amazing product design that you could capture a new mood for some so mundane as a heating control.

Over the last few years and with the increased heating costs there has been a massive push to save energy and fit controls to save money. Traditional heating systems often just had a programmer and told the boiler to come on or off. Later room stats where incorporated to stop wasted heating and window opening, a sign off a uncontrolled by temperature house.

Honeywell have manufactured both and possibly underestimated the homeowners need over the last few years to be smarter with how they want to control the heating and hot water. So the Nest Learning Thermostat was born to take a boring product into a desirable one that is actually really nice to interact with and saves you money.

Everyone wants to save money but we all do not have the time or know how so why not have a gadget that does it for you. The Nest learns your habits and predicts temperatures that you like for the future and creates a comfortable house.

Once you have taught it what you like you then do not actually need to touch it as it has motion detection detectors and access to weather conditions as it is internet enabled. No other thermostat has been created with some much functionality and impressive usability.

The long standing Honeywell dial stat has hardly changed since its inception and it is a shame that the market has not demanded more before now or the manufacturers have tried to push technology. Perhaps it is because they thought it was not broken and homeowners not that bothered.

In today's society and the impact of Apple products in creating the beautiful, user friendly, exquisite and never scrimping on costs it is no wonder that the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation is now well up there in the top ten things to have in the home.
