Step it Up This Recycling Week 2021

Step it Up This Recycling Week 2021

Step it Up This Recycling Week 2021

Recycling Week is the celebration of responsible recycling across the nation. Now in its 18th year, recycling week 2021 is one week where everyone comes together to achieve one goal. The goal to emphasise to the public how important recycling is. Everyone gets involved; retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, local governments and the media. There has long been a focus on the three R’s; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Whilst the first two R’s are not easily possible in the plumbing and heating industry, recycling has never been easier. Here at Mr Central Heating, we’ve made a pledge to assist with the government’s plan to reduce carbon emissions by 2050. We have a few initiatives in place that focus on recycling. Here’s how you can help us Step it Up.

Boiler Box

Being environmentally responsible in the construction industry can be a difficult task. Until recently, recycling certain components and appliances has not been made easy. To try and assist with this, Mr Central Heating wants to make some changes. We’ve created the BoilerBox to enable you to recycle old boilers and the waste materials. We can guarantee that at least 60% of the material from the boiler will be recycled so you can have peace of mind.  You’re helping the planet as well as using this efficient and convenient method for your waste disposal and to help you recycle right.

PumpDump from MrCentral Heating

Pump Dump

We have introduced the Pump Dump scheme in partnership with Grundfos. We’re asking our customers to dump their old pumps in our stores, so we can send them back to the manufacturer to be reverse engineered. Using a Take Back Scheme, Grundfos will then collect the pumps from us and reuse the materials in new pump production. Grundfos is the leading pump manufacturer in the UK and has innovative ways to support the circular economy. All manufacturers of pumps can be dumped at any Mr Central Heating store, saving more waste from entering landfill and creating an opportunity of new use. Whilst you can't put your old pump in your recycling bin, by bringing it to us so that the recyclable parts can be used again, you can do the next best thing.

Packaging Takeback Scheme

Waste packaging can have a huge impact on the industries contribution to waste. We’re encouraging our customers to drop off any of their old boiler, radiator or cylinder packaging including cardboard, shrink wrap and polystyrene at any of our stores across the UK. We want our customers to be aware of the waste they’re producing and ensure that they’re disposing of itcorrectly. We also want it to be convenient for them. This is contributing to the reduction in carbon and assisting the government in hitting the target by 2050. The reuse of cardboard is common, and as a material it can easily be recycled. Plastic is not so easily recycled and this is why many local councils do not collect all of the different types. That's why we at Mr Central Heating are here to help. Let's make a change together. Let us recycle your plumbing packaging for you.

There are lots of benefits of recycling, from helping with carbon emissions to increasing the sustainability of resources.
